Norfolk DA Champions Initial Training Dates for 2027

2026 Initial Domestic Abuse Champion Training dates are full

Our 2027 NIDAS Domestic Abuse Champions training dates (to become a Norfolk Domestic Abuse Champion) will be released quarterly, 6 months ahead of the training as follows;

Live dates for 2027 released 1st September 2026

January 19 & 21 2027 – Online via MS Teams – 9.30am-4pm

February 23 & 25 2027 – Discovery Centre – Kings Lynn 10am – 4.30pm

March 4 & 11th 2027– Harford Centre – Norwich 10am – 4.30pm

Further training dates to be realeased for 2027 on:

4th January 2027 for April – June 2027 dates

1st April 2027 for July – September 2027 dates

1st July 2027 for October – December 2027 dates

The training is held over two days, and both days need to be attended to be a registered NIDAS Domestic Abuse Champion.

Priority spaces are given to those who work in the Health, Education and Council sectors.

The Domestic Abuse Champion agrees to:

  • Attend the full two days DA Champions Training
  • To attend at least one network event annually
  • Pass information between their agency and the Champions network
  • Maintain up to date information in relation to available services
  • Ensure domestic abuse materials are displayed within their agency
  • Contribute to the development and effectiveness of the Champion network
  • Information being shared around attendance at the training sessions, with line managers

The organisation agrees to:

  • Support the champion in spreading awareness of domestic abuse and its impact, response to disclosures, and sources of support
  • Enable the champion to have time to attend networking events and training
  • Provide an environment that encourages disclosures of domestic abuse and provides information about support services
  • Facilitate the champion cascading learning and information to the organisation and sharing this with colleagues
  • Support and encourage the champion with their responsibilities

The Role of a Domestic Abuse Champion

To provide the best support within your role for victims of domestic abuse it is a requirement that as a DA champion, you will ensure the following:

  • Act as an access point for domestic abuse support into and out of your organisation.
  • Keep up to date and access information on referral pathways and services within your local area.
  • Ensure your colleagues know how to contact you for guidance.
  • Cascade the training in relation to domestic abuse awareness within your organisation.
  • Ensure, where possible, that information such as posters, or website content, is displayed for awareness within your organisation.
  • Attend NIDAS networking events and refresher training.
  • Be aware of the impact of the role & responsibilities on your current job role.

Organisational responsibilities

It is vital that DA Champions are supported by their organisation as the service level agreement needs to be signed by their management to ensure that professionals are not operating as DA champions in isolation. As an organisation or manager, we request that you:

  • Nominate an enthusiastic and appropriate individual(s) who will take on the role of a Domestic Abuse Champion.
  • Ensure that adequate time away from their nominal role will be given to attend ongoing training and events.
  • Allow the Champion to be identified as an ‘in-house’ expert and recognise the impact the role may have on that person’s workload.
  • Ensure that individuals are aware of the extra responsibilities placed on them when agreeing to the Domestic Abuse Champion role.
  • Support & encourage the Champion with their new role.
